Address: 20 King St W, Toronto, ON M5H 1C4, Canada
The most talked-about restaurant opening Downtown: JOEY’s brand-new King Street flagship — its biggest room in North America, dropped inside a landmark bank building in King West.
The concept
Since it opened in late 2024, JOEY King Street has been the group’s showpiece — around 19,000 square feet across two levels in the historic Royal Bank building, the largest JOEY on the continent. JOEY itself is the Canadian premium-casual brand that started as a Calgary pasta house in 1992; this is the location built to make noise, from the design to the rooftop-style patio.
What to order
Globally inspired and built for sharing: the Classic Steak with frites, the signature Lobster Spaghetti, sushi and tuna rolls, pan-seared gyoza and Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps, backed by one of the deeper cocktail lists in the neighbourhood.
The Space
Two dramatic floors in a restored bank hall, crowned by a 100-seat patio with an operable roof and greenery overlooking King West. It’s loud, modern and designed to be seen in — the current benchmark for a big downtown night.
Who it’s for
People chasing the newest, buzziest room in the core: after-work crowds spilling onto King West, big celebrations, first dates that want a “wow,” and anyone who books the patio the second the roof opens.
Questions and answers
Is it hard to get in? It’s popular and new, so book ahead — weekend nights and the patio go first; the bar is your best bet for walk-ins.
Any vegetarian or gluten-wise picks? Yes — bowls, salads and plant-forward shares, with gluten-wise items marked.
What should I order first? Start with the lettuce wraps, gyoza and some sushi, then split the Classic Steak and Lobster Spaghetti.
Good for a group night out? Ideal — the sheer size and bar energy make it one of the best big-table rooms in King West.
When’s the best time for the patio? Warm evenings and weekend afternoons; the operable roof means it stays open even when the weather turns.
